FAQ markup
What FAQ markup is, and what changed when Google stopped showing FAQ rich results in 2026.

FAQ markup: FAQ markup is structured data, usually the schema.org FAQPage type written as JSON-LD, that labels the questions and answers on a page so software can read them as pairs. For years Google used it to show expandable questions under a search result, then limited that display to a few government and health sites, and its documentation changelog says FAQ rich results stopped appearing altogether from May 7, 2026. The markup still describes a page accurately, so sites that keep it do so for other readers, not for a feature in Google's results.
Where it shows up
It sits in a script tag in the page's HTML, invisible to readers, and repeats the questions and answers the page shows. Google's rule for all structured data applies to it: the markup has to match what a reader can see.
This site keeps FAQ markup on its pages because it costs nothing and describes each page truthfully, and it expects no special display in Google results in return.
